Laboratory Photography for the Forensic Professional

Course Description

Taking examination-quality photographs of both processed and unprocessed latent print or footwear impressions in the laboratory comes with its own unique set of challenges. Laboratory photographers must have a deep understanding of various types of lenses, filters, light sources and accessories in order to properly compose and illuminate evidence for imaging during the various stages of sequential processing. This class will teach students about camera equipment, camera functions, correct exposure, light balance, forensic light sources, and other important considerations for taking quality comparison photographs. Additionally, students will complete hands-on exercises using a variety of cutting-edge photography equipment.

Target Audience

This 40-hour class is designed for both new and experienced latent print examiners, laboratory technicians, forensic photographers, and other personnel who are responsible for photographing evidence and latent print impressions in a laboratory environment.
